Contract Type: Permanent, full-time role

Hours: 40 hours per week

Salary: £55,000-70,000 DoE

The Role

We’re looking for an experienced rope access professional to lead and grow our specialist industrial rope access team.  Working at height across challenging, hard-to-reach structures, the team delivers a broad range of work including inspection, maintenance, repair, installation, and surface preparation.

This role focuses on planning, safety documentation, business development and coordinating the team and equipment, with some hands-on rope access work to maintain your competency.  It will suit someone who combines strong technical rope access expertise with commercial acumen, and who is motivated by the opportunity to shape a specialist team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review risk assessments and method statements (RAMS), including rescue plans, for all rope access work, ensuring they are site-specific, communicated to the team and followed on site.
  • Identify new business opportunities and prepare quotes and tenders to win new contracts, supporting the growth of the rope access division.
  • Plan and schedule rope access projects, allocating technicians, contractors and equipment to meet programme and client requirements.
  • Coordinate worksites and liaise with clients to determine access and rigging requirements, ensuring appropriate IRATA Level 3 supervision is in place, and promoting alternative access methods where appropriate.
  • Manage the inspection and maintenance of all rope access equipment, tools and plant, ensuring pre-use checks are carried out, and all LOLER examinations are in date and recorded.
  • Lead the recruitment, training, and development of rope access technicians, building a skilled, fully IRATA-compliant team as the division grows.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and permit systems and adhere strictly to IRATA safety standards and site-specific procedures.
  • Ensure all accidents, incidents and near misses are reported immediately to the client’s site manager, and lead investigations and corrective actions.
  • Work independently, maintaining accurate records and documentation of work completed.
  • Undertake rope access work as required to support projects and maintain your own IRATA competency and logged hours, including participation in emergency response and rescue.

Person Specification

Essential:
  • Current IRATA certification (any level) with extensive practical rope access experience.
  • IOSH Managing Safely certificate or equivalent.
  • Experience writing RAMS and rescue plans for work at height.
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Able to meet the medical fitness requirements for IRATA rope access work.
  • Proven experience in managing teams and delivering projects safely.
  • Experience in business development or client relationship management, with a commercially-minded approach.
  • Strong focus on health & safety and compliance, with high standards of quality and professionalism.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills, with confidence dealing directly with clients and stakeholders.
Desirable:
  • IRATA Level 3 qualified
  • NEBOSH General certificate
